Fetch: Tips and Tricks

While we have pre-built reports available under the Reporting menu, Fetch is the query tool within PensionPro that allows you to build reporting that is even more specific to your needs. If you have tried using the tool and had questions about building a query, we have a few tips to mention.

Have you noticed under Column Selections you can toggle the – after a node name to be a + and wondered what effect it has? This allows you to show/hide results that have empty values (or, null fields).

Let’s use the Projects node as an example:

Projects – will only provide plans that DO have a project

Projects + will provide plans that DO NOT have a project and will show a blank field

Do you have Contacts that do not need to be linked to Plans and struggle including them in results? There is a solution!

Select the parent note “Plan Contact Role”
Do NOT select any role fields
Expand “Contacts”
Select desired nodes

In the Filtering section, you may be trying to return results that are of a specific type or maybe you need to bring in “this or that”.

AND filter means the results must match BOTH filters
OR filter means the results can match any of the grouped filter

Don’t forget you can use “Is/Not Contained In” Operators in your filters. Maybe you would like to display results for more than one Administrator but not All.

Or, maybe you want to see results for all Administrators except these three:

Fetch can be accessed through Power Tools > Fetch, but usually the Access Power Tools right is needed to make a selection from that menu. However, we made an update to the access recently. If you have the Access Query Tool Security right without the Access Power Tools right, you are now able to open the Power Tools menu to access Fetch. It will be the only tool you have access to under that menu unless you have the additional Power Tools right, but this update will streamline how you access Fetch.

If you would like more information about Fetch, please view this Help Center article https://support.pensionpro.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408839674132-PensionPro-Fetch and reach out with any questions!

P.S. Don’t forget that registration is open for our Year-End Workshop. We’d love for you to join us in Harrisburg, PA!
